Sports Dentistry is the prevention and treatment of oral/facial athletic injuries and related oral diseases and manifestations. Prevention and adequate preparation are the key elements in minimizing injuries that occur in sports.

In any contact sports, injury prevention through properly fitted mouth guards is considered essential. As a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry, Dr. Engel has affiliations with many high school, college and amateur sports teams across the Low country.

He has also lectured to National Athletic Trainers Association, student athletic trainers and other local groups about dental sports and safety.

He can make custom mouth guards and can treat most oral athletic injuries.
